PRIMARY AREAS OF PRACTICE

Bobby Papazian advises individuals, businesses, and municipalities on a variety of complex legal and regulatory issues.  His practice focuses on commercial disputes, civil rights, municipal law, and appellate litigation.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

Bobby has represented clients big and small throughout his career.  He has advocated on behalf of large multinational corporations in complex commercial disputes and government investigations.  He has also counseled individuals and grassroots organizations fighting government corruption and corporate avarice.

Bobby has advised major sports leagues, financial institutions, manufacturers, and retailers on antitrust risk in the context of M&A, employment practices, and licensing.  In helping small businesses, he has resolved partnership disputes and negotiated the sale of interests in closely held corporations.  He has also defended against shareholder derivative lawsuits brought in the Delaware Court of Chancery and contract disputes in the New York Commercial Division.

As pro bono counsel, Bobby commenced a class action spanning several states and successfully recovered unpaid wages for hundreds of unpaid employees.  He has also advised charitable organizations, litigated immigration matters, and sought post-conviction relief for the wrongfully imprisoned.  He also helped secure a victory at the United States Supreme Court in Tanzin v. Tanvir, 592 U.S. 43 (2020), a case involving federal agents burdening the free exercise of religion under the First Amendment.

Bobby has considerable experience as an appellate advocate, having briefed and argued appeals before municipal bodies and state and federal courts.  This experience, combined with his work as an appellate law clerk in both state and federal courts, provides him with insight into the appellate process to succinctly and effectively handle appeals involving any subject matter.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Bobby graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers Law School in 2017 after receiving his bachelor’s degree from Villanova University in 2010.  After law school, Bobby clerked for Justice Barry T. Albin of the New Jersey Supreme Court and Judge Jane Richards Roth of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.  Before joining Gebhardt & Kiefer, Bobby was an associate at an international law firm in New York and at a litigation boutique in Portland, Maine.
